Root Cellar v 1.01 on 9/27/98
by Bellendaine [ badlands |
this the first release version of the Square Root Cycle: a taste of Balance of Power, a large campaign map in the works. Root Cellar and Root Hill use a wider versions of two of the structures from Balance as their centerpieces.
These maps are based around Journey Man Mortal Kombat (aka J'man Jihad, Holy Wars) a variation developed by Civil Disorder. The quintessential JMK is LMOTH played on I'll Dance On Your Grave with maximum Journeymen, Dorfs, and Thrall; use the 4 leftover points to get the default ghols and blow them up upon start (extra points for cleaver altitude/time aloft), and keep the default wight. This var is also suitable on a number of other maps.
These maps were made largely with Piri Reis by John Kornhaus and Eli Kurtz. My thanks go out to them for letting me beta test this wonderful tool.
Also, thanks to Hoder who helped me out with the water textures and provided his nifty JMK logo for the startup screens. Thanks also to Fly Molo, and to the badlands crew for scads of indispensable advice and encouragement.
For some reason soulless will not climb the walls of the cellar or hill. The passibility should allow them to do so; perhaps the slope is too steep. After much unsuccessful wrangling with the soulless mons file (where I discovered that they were already flight-impassable as well as walk-impassable enabled!), I have come to accept their behavior as feature rather than bug.
Version 1.01 fixes a mistake in a startup screen (sorry).
